Louisville Leopards Volleyball 2025 at Canfield Cardinals

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball team dropped a hard-fought road match against the Canfield Cardinals Thursday night 33-31, 28-30, 21-25, 18-25. With the loss, Louisville moves to 1-1 on the season.

Standout Performances Power Louisville

The Leopards were led at the net by Mabel Kiko, who delivered 15 kills and a match-high 7 blocks. Dakota Gross followed closely with 14 kills and also sparked the team from the service line with 4 aces to go along with 7 digs. Taylor McCully contributed a well-rounded performance with 11 kills, 13 digs, 2 blocks, and 4 aces.

Aubrey Johnston anchored the back row defense with 14 digs and added 7 service points. Running the Louisville offense was Carlee Rhome, who tallied 29 assists and also provided a strong all-around effort with 12 service points and 10 digs.

Leopards Score Record-Breaking 33 Points in Opening Set

The opening set was one for the record books as the Leopards edged Canfield 33-31 in an extended duel. The 33 points marked the highest single-set score in team history, surpassing the previous record of 32 set in a second set loss to Jackson on September 30, 2020. The Polar Bears swept that matchup 25-17, 34-32, 27-25.

Louisville has reached 30 points in a set six times previously. They won sets by a count of 31-29 three times in a span of six seasons last decade and in recent seasons lost two hard-fought sets by a 30-32 count in 2022 and 2023.
