Marlington Dukes at Louisville Leopards Volleyball 2014

Marlington 25-25-29-25, Louisville 22-22-31-22

The Louisville Lady Leopards fell to the visiting Marlington Dukes 22-25, 22-25, 31-29, 22-25 Tuesday evening at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville falls to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in NBC Play.

Each set was close, but the Dukes prevailed by a 25-22 count in 3 out of the 4 games to take the Beatty's Sports Long Sleeved Leopard Nationmatch. The third set was the most entertaining as the two squads battled back and forth into extra points. Despite going down 27-26, the Leopards rallied back to take the set 31-29. However, they could not carry this momentum into the final set and as a result Marlington took the contest 3-1.

Emily Hollifield, Rachel Mathie, and Haley Shadle led Louisville in the stats department. Hollifield threw down 15 kills and had 4 blocks. Mathie served up 12 points and recorded 18 digs. Shadle tallied 40 assists and also had 4 blocks.

The Dukes were led by Marlee Peck who had a game-high 20 kills and also 23 assists. Allie Carr was the game’s top server with 16 points & 4 aces and also had 13 digs. Other leaders for Marlington included Mariah Carver with 4 blocks and Katie Truxall with 23 assists. The Dukes are now 8-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

JV: Louisville 25-25, Marlington 16-12

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to West Branch to take on the Warriors on Thursday, September 18. JV will begin at 5:00 and Varsity will follow at approximately 6:00.
