My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team upset the visiting Wadsworth Grizzlies 3-2 Thursday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 7-4-1 on the season.

The Leopards never trailed during the contest. Louisville took an early 1-0 lead when Freshman Drew Dillen scored off an assist from junior Austin Smith. The score was Dillen’s fourth goal of the season as Smith also tallied his second assist of the year.

Junior Kam Wagner answered with a goal for Wadsworth to knot the game at 1-1.

The Leopards drew a penalty kick before the end of the half and Riley Adams converted it to put Louisville ahead 2-1 at halftime. The goal was Adams team-leading 19th of the season and 56th of his career, which leaves him two goals away from tying the LHS career mark.

Samantha's Grill AdEarly on in the second half, Riley Adams fed an assist to his brother Freshman Brady Adams who found the back of the net. And just like that the Leopards, a decided underdog, held a stunning 3-1 lead over the powerhouse Grizzlies. Brady Adams is now second on the team in goals scored with 5, while Riley Adams matches his brother for the team lead in assists with 7.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdWagner would connect on his second goal of the contest later on in the second half to cut the deficit to 3-2. With a late start due to freshman football beforehand, the game went deep into the night. But the Louisville defense held firm in shutting out Wadsworth the rest of the way. Junior goalkeeper Joe Reynolds finished with 10 saves for the Leopards and Alex Lazzaretti had 12 saves in goal for the Grizzlies.

This is the first ever meeting between the two programs. This game was also described by one coach as the biggest win in program history. While Wadsworth is now just 5-6-1, they play a tough schedule. Five days earlier the Grizzlies defeated North Canton Hoover 2-1, a team Louisville lost to 5-0 to open the season. The timing for this prestigious victory is perfect as teams will be voting in the postseason tournament draw this weekend.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Woodridge Bulldogs on Saturday, October 10. JV is slated to begin at 5:00 PM and varsity will follow at 7:00 PM.
