Leopards Erase Deficit with 6-Run 4th

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe Lady Mustangs built a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth, but the Lady Leopards erased it all with their biggest inning of the season. Louisville scored 6 runs in the bottom of the fourth to snatch the lead from Tuslaw.

Junior shortstop Matti Benson led off the frame with a solo home run to center field to get the Leopards on the board. For Benson, it was her second dinger of the season and her 20th career varsity homer overall.

Freshman second baseman Kaitlin Twinem and freshman first baseman/pitcher Anna Sirohman followed with back-to-back singles. Freshman left fielder Maggie Baker was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Junior pitcher/first baseman Katie Heath singled home Twinem in the next at-bat to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Sophomore designated hitter Chay Cline shrunk the difference even further with a 2-run double to center that brought home Sirohman and Baker. Two batters later, junior third baseman Kenzi Denzer cleared the bases with a 2-out, 2-run triple to right field to put Louisville in front 6-5. Heath and Cline scored on the play.

Louisville Tacks on 3 More in 6th

Both teams were retired in order in the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, Sirohman faced the minimum after the Lady Leopards turned a 1-3-6 Sirohman to Heath to Benson double play to end the frame.

In the bottom half of the sixth, freshman pinch hitter Taylor Thompson smashed her first varsity home run over the fence in right field. The 2-run shot put Louisville further in command leading 8-5. A few batter’s later, Twinem doubled home Benson to cushion the Leopard further.

Sirohman Notches 1st Win

Sirohman pitched 4.1 innings in relief, allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, and struck out 3 to notch the first victory of her varsity career.

Sirohman also went 2-for-4 at the plate as Louisville out-hit Tuslaw 10-8 for the game. Cline and Twinem finished with multi-hit games for LHS as well.
