Leopards Gallop Past Mustangs 14-2 at Duhon Tournament – Softball
Louisville 14, Tuslaw 2, 6 Innings
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team earned a run-rule 14-2 victory over the Tuslaw Mustangs in 6 innings Saturday Morning at the George Duhon Memorial Tournament held at Genshaft Park in Massillon. The victory is the Lady Leopards seventh straight as they up their mark to 12-2 on the season.
Kaycee Ollis batted 3-for-3 with a homer, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored to lead Louisville. She got the Leopards on the board in the first inning with an RBI single to center that plated Sydney McKeever. Ollis knocked in McKeever again in the second inning on a line drive 2-run homer to right field that opened up a 6-0 Louisville lead. The home run is the 4th on the season for Ollis and the 20th of her career.
Sarah Cantley picked up where Ollis left off by smacking a line drive solo jack to left field to lead off the third. The dinger was Cantley’s third of the year and the Lady Leopards 19th as a team. In the circle, Cantley pitched a complete game giving up 2 runs on 9 hits, and striking out 8 to improve to 9-1 on the season.
Louisville pounded out 13 hits as a team in the game. McKeever went 2-for-3 and scored 3 runs which included coming home on Teagan Rice’s sacrifice fly in the fourth. Kaylee Nolte also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-4 with an RBI double during the Lady Leopards’ 5-run sixth. Lauren Stillwagon also delivered a 2-run single in the sixth inning that put LHS up by double digits and in line for the mercy.
Louisville has now defeated Tuslaw in the George Duhon Memorial Tournament in each of the past three seasons. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 3-1 overall dating back to their first meeting in 1990.
