Tennis Falls in Crucial NBC Match at Salem, Still Control Fate
Salem 3, Louisville 2
Late into the evening, the Louisville Leopards boys tennis team suffered their second straight defeat and first to an NBC foe as they fell at Salem Thursday 3-2. Louisville swept their doubles matches in straight sets, but Salem won all three singles matches in the same fashion.
Doubles winners for Louisville included the teams of Vince Burwell & Daniel Thompson and Michael Thomas & Ryan Shepherd. The win is the Quakers first ever win over the Leopards after previously suffering eight straight defeats.
The Leopards are now 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the NBC and still control their fate for winning an NBC Title. A win at Marlington on Wednesday, May 9 will give them at least a share of the NBC. Salem still has to play Alliance a second time. A loss by the Quakers to the Aviators and win by the Leopards over the Dukes would give Louisville the title outright.
