Rice, Givens Take Top NBC Softball Honors
Chandler Rice was named the NBC Softball Player of the Year and Head Coach Chet Givens was named Coach of the Year at the NBC Sports Banquet Friday evening.

Alliance’s Nathan Rice threw a 2-hit shutout & struck out 15 to lead Alliance to a 1-0 District Semifinal win over Louisville. Kyle White had two hits for the Leopards.
Marlington scored five runs in the first inning last Wednesday and finished off Louisville Tuesday night 8-2. Chad Neff hit a 2-run home run for the Leopards only runs of the game.
Lake scored 3 runs in the final inning to take the lead & the game 5-2. Chandler Rice went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI’s & Emily Isla smashed 2 doubles to lead the Lady Leps.
Rice went 3-for-4 with a Grand Slam & Monnot & Cozy each had homers to lead the Lady Leopards to a 14-0 win at Marlington. Falcone also pitched a 5-inning shutout.
Mackenzie Rankin finished first in 4 different individual events and Chad Gentry also finished first in 2 to lead the Leopards. The girls finished with a score of 135 and the boys 118.
Shelby Swigert went 2-for-2 with a two-run single, two-run triple, and a run to lead Louisville past Canton South 11-2. Lady Leopards Seniors Carlee Baumgardner, Brittany Flanigan, and Emily Isla were honored.
Jon Crank went 4-for-4 with a 3-run triple & 4 RBI’s and Riley Groves pitched a 6-inning shutout & delivered the game-ending RBI during Louisville’s 10-0 win over the Fairless Falcons in the Sectional Final.
Brittany Flanigan pitched a complete game shutout and Chandler Rice & Emily Isla each had RBI singles during Louisville’s 2-0 win over Green. The Sectional Title is the Lady Leps third straight.
After Vince Burwell served and Marlington returned, Daniel Thompson threw the hammer down to close out #1 Doubles. The win was the Leopards clinching third, which gave them the match and a share of the NBC Title with Salem.
