Cowboys 38, Packers 16

The Cowboys clinched a share of the 5th-6th Grade Division with a convincing 38-16 victory over the Packers.  Amazingly the two teams scored a combined 54 points after playing to a 0-0 tie in their first meeting earlier this season.

Jared Mathie scored on touchdown runs of 8, 1, and 12 yards to and Joey Knopp scored on runs of 16 and 12 to lead the Cowboys offense.  On defense, Bryce Zuppe recovered a fumble and Colton Beatty's Sports 2012 Football ShirtJones picked off a pass and returned it about 45 yards to the Packers 1.  Davis Burick also caught a pass for huge yardage on a 3rd-and-16 that led to another score.  Marc Joseph converted on 4 of 5 extra point kicks as well.

The Packers stunned the Cowboys when Max Hartline scored on a 31 yard touchdown run just 29 seconds into the contest.  It was the first time the Cowboys had been scored upon all season long.    However, the Cowboys would score 30 unanswered points and the Packers did not score again until Cameron Lingle ran 40 yards for a touchdown with 3:03 left in the fourth quarter.  Jimmy Ashcraft also had a fumble recovery on defense for the Pack.  Cameron King kicked through both extra point attempts to round out the Packers scoring.

The Cowboys improve to 4-0-1 and the Packers fall to 3-1-1.  The Cowboys can become outright champions with a win over the Chiefs or a Packers loss to the Rams next Sunday.
