Leopards Strike First, Bees Answer
Medina threatened early, tallying back-to-back hits in the first, but Louisville escaped without damage. The Leopards capitalized in the bottom of the second after Addy Campbell and Katelynn Miller opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Destiny Hanze grounded out to short to plate the game’s first run, and a wild pitch allowed Miller to come home to make it 2-0.
The Bees tied the game in the top of the third behind a pair of defensive miscues. Olivia Hendrickson singled to right and later scored on an error, while Katie Rubino swiped home during a double steal for the equalizer. But Louisville wasted no time reclaiming the momentum.
Griffith Goes Yard Twice, Campbell Follows
Bailee Griffith led off the bottom of the third by launching a solo home run to right field to put Louisville ahead for good at 3-2. Leah Claugus followed with a double and later scored on a Miller RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2.
Griffith wasn’t done yet. In the sixth inning, she crushed her second homer of the game—this time a towering shot to center field to push the lead to 7-2. Campbell capped off the frame with a 2-run homer of her own, driving a fly ball over the fence in left to cement the Leopards’ offensive outburst.
Griffith finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Claugus also went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBIs, and two runs. Campbell went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Miller collected two hits and an RBI.
Miller and Sirohman Combine for Eight Strikeouts
In the circle, Miller earned the win after pitching five strong innings. She allowed just four hits and two unearned runs while striking out five. Anna Sirohman entered in relief and shut the door, tossing two scoreless innings, allowing only one hit, and striking out three.
Defensively, Louisville committed two errors but was otherwise solid behind their pitchers.
Allar Records Multi-Hit Game for Medina
The Leopards out-hit the Battling Bees 12-5 for the game. Ryann Allar finished 2-for-3 with a double to lead Medina. Bella Case, Henderickson, and Rubino also tallied hits for the Bees.
Medina fell to Manchester 15-3 in the middle game of the tri-header played on the Diamond of Dreams. The Battling Bees are now 3-5 on the season following the two defeats.
