Louisville Opens Season with Dominant Win Over Perry 71-48

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team began the 2021-2022 campaign with a convincing 71-48 victory over the visiting Perry Panthers Friday Night at Louisville High School.
Aljancic Leads Louisville with Game-High 19
Junior guard Will Aljancic hit home 4 three-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Leopards. Also reaching double digits for Louisville were senior guard Tyler Boldon with 16 points, all in the first three quarters of action, and sophomore guard Hayden Nigro would poured in 14.
The Leopards led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. Louisville outscored Perry 17-7 in the second quarter to take a double digit 30-19 halftime advantage.
The Panthers were unable to shrink the deficit to single digits as the Leopards pulled ahead by as many as 26. Louisville outscored Perry 16-12 in the third quarter and topped off their night with a 25-point fourth quarter. Nine different LHS players scored during the rout.
Brown Leads Perry with Team-High 19
Perry (0-1) was led by Joel Brown who made 3 three-pointers and finished with a team leading 19 points. Camran Hall also scored 9 points and Cameron Nickson tacked on 4 for the Panthers.
Leopards Vs. Panthers Basketball History
This is Louisville’s first victory over Perry since a 61-45 win at home in 2015. The Panthers came into the contest winning 18 of the last 20 matchups in the series including the past 4 meetings overall. The two teams were scheduled to play at Perry in last year’s season opener, but the game was cancelled and never rescheduled.
The Leopards now trail the all-time series against the Panthers 16-33, which includes a 10-14 record against Perry when playing in Louisville. The 23 point margin is the Leopards largest in the series eclipsing their previous 22 point high margin in a 79-57 victory over the Panthers at home on January 7, 1972.
