Toles Leads Perry with 16 Points

The Panthers never trailed in the game as they jumped out to an early 11-3 lead and never looked back. Perry went up double digits at 21-10 by halftime and extended their advantage to 34-19 by the end of the third quarter. Both teams scored five points in the final stanza as PHS secured the 15-point victory.

The Panthers (1-0) were lead by Quentin Toles who snagged 6 rebounds, hit 2 three-pointers, and scored a game-high 16 points in less than three quarters of action. The Junior Guard was denied by Leopards Senior Guard Colton Jones on fast break layup at the 6:16 mark of the third quarter and came up a little gimpy. PHS Head Coach Chad Spurgeon called timeout seconds later on their next possession and Toles came out of the game with a sprained ankle and did not return. At that point Toles had outscored Louisville and Perry led 25-14.

Points Come at a Premium for Both Teams

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdPoints would continue to come at a premium for both teams in the final 14 minutes of action that saw the Panthers outscored the Leopards 14-10. Junior Guard Haytham Hmeidan scored all 6 of his points after Toles was sidelined. Jagger Haynes, Reese Heater, and Jared Petty all added 5 points a piece as well.

Louisville shot just 8 of 40 from the floor and failed to connect on 13 attempts from beyond the arch. As a result, the Panthers held the Leopards to their lowest point total since a 58-15 loss to the Canton Timken Trojans on December 15, 1984.

At halftime, Louisville honored the 2019 State Champion Lady Leopards Softball Team presenting each player with a championship ring. Louisville rallied to defeat Lakota East 14-10 on June 2 to claim the second team state title in school history. Oddly enough, the Leopards output Friday reflected that 14-10 victory as Louisville scored 10 points in the first half and 14 points in the second half.

Perry has no won the last four meetings against Louisville overall.
