Lady Leopards Blanked At North Canton 4-0 – Softball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team was shutout by the host North Canton Hoover Vikings 4-0 Monday Evening at Goodpasture Stadium. With the loss, Louisville falls to 7-8 on the season.
Koosh Throws 3-Hit Shutout for Hoover
Freshman shortstop Matti Benson, junior designated hitter Jenna Collins, and junior left fielder Katie Porter recorded the only hits for the Leopards.
Starting pitcher Sydnee Koosh pitched a complete game 3-hit shutout and struck out 12 to lead the Lady Vikings. Koosh walked Benson to start the game and then retired the next 11 LHS batters consecutively.
Collins Breaks Up No-Hitter Bid
Koosh’s no-hitter bid was broken up when Collins singled with two outs in the top of the fourth. Koosh then retired the side and recorded a pair of strikeouts in the fifth inning. In the sixth, Benson hit a 1-out single to left field and later advanced to second on a passed ball. Second base would be the furthest a Louisville runner would journey for the game as Koosh got out of the jam two batters later.
Koosh would give up a 2-out single to Porter in the seventh inning and then walk junior catcher Kat Frase to put the tying run at the plate. After working the count full on the next batter, Koosh got her to waive and miss at strike three to close the game.
Spellman Homers Twice for North Canton
North Canton was led on offense by left fielder Sophie Spellman who would finish 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of homers and all 3 of the Vikings RBIs for the game. Spellman singled home third baseman Lynae Foster in the first inning to give Hoover an early 2-0 lead. She later homered to center field to open the fourth and went yard again to center field with two outs in the sixth.
The Lady Vikings initial run came via a series of Leopard errors. Centerfielder Faith Reicosky reached base and advanced to second via an outfield error. She then came home when Foster reached on an infield error two batters later.
Leopards Vs. Vikings Softball Series
North Canton has defeated Louisville in 11 of their last 13 meetings overall. The Lady Leopards are now 6-41 against the Lady Vikings all-time, which includes a 1-24 mark in games played at Hoover*.
