Louisville Shutout by NDCL in Sectional Final 1-0 – Girls Soccer

The #18 seed Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team was shutout by the host #14 seed Note Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions 1-0 in their DI Cleveland 1 Sectional Final Thursday Night at Lion Stadium Lozick Field. With the loss, Louisville finishes the season with a final record of 10-6-1.
Clayton Scores Game Winner for Lions
Sophomore Emma Clayton scored the only goal of the contest to give Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin a 1-0 lead with 12:32 left in the contest. The Lions would hold the Leopards off the scoreboard the rest of the way to earn the shutout and a sectional title.
Notre Dame-Cathedral held a 6-0 edge in shots on goal for the night. The Lions also doubled up Louisville in corner kicks 2-1.
Senior goalkeeper Amelia Henderhan recorded five saves in goal in the final game of her record-filled varsity career for LHS.
Leopards Drop 6th Straight Sectional Final
The Lady Leopards have fallen in the sectional finals in each of the past four seasons and have dropped their last six sectional title games since 2014. Louisville Girls Soccer’s only sectional championships came in 2012 and 2013.
The Lady Leopards are now 10-20 all-time in tournament play since the program began in 2003. This includes a 4-17 record on the road in the postseason. Louisville has now lost their last four road tournament games overall with the previous three coming at Jackson.
NDCL Advances to Play at Jackson in District Semi
This was the first ever meeting between NDCL and Louisville in girls soccer. The Lions are the 65th different opponent that the Lady Leopards have faced all-time in the regular season or postseason.
