The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Marlington Dukes 61-42 Friday Night at Marlington High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 10-4 on the year.

Nigro Leads Leopards With Team High 14

Sophomore guard Hayden Nigro scored half of his team high 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Leopards. Junior guard Will Aljancic and senior guard Tyler Boldon also reached double figures with 10. Boldon registered Louisville’s only two three-pointers in the contest.


Marlington Pulls Away in the Third

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe Dukes jumped out to a 16-9 advantage after the first period and would lead at the end of each quarter. The Leopards outscored the Dukes 13-8 in the second quarter to trim the deficit to a single bucket at 24-22 by halftime.

Marlington pulled away in the third quarter outscoring Louisville 19-5 in the period to take a double digit 43-27 advantage into the final stanza. The Dukes would cash in on 11 of 12 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to help ice their victory as they outscored the Leopards 18-15 in the final eight minutes.


Miller Leads Dukes with Game High 19

Junior Casey Miller made 5 three-pointers and finished with a game high 19 points to lead Marlington. Senior Connor Evanich also dropped in 15 and junior Tommy Skelding added 12 for the Dukes.

This is Louisville’s first loss at Marlington since 2014, snapping a string of 5 straight victories when playing on the Dukes home court. The Leopards won the last 6 meetings in the rivalry and 12 of the last 13 meetings overall coming into Friday’s game. Louisville still leads the all-time series 73-39, which includes a 32-21 record when playing at Marlington in the series dating back to 1963.
