Lady Leopards Fall At Jackson, Finish As District Runner-Up – Volleyball

The #17 seed Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team fell in three sets to the host top seed Jackson Polar Bears 14-25, 14-25, 16-25 in the DI Northeast 2 District Championship match Saturday Afternoon at Jackson High School. Louisville finishes as the DI Northeast 2 District Runner-Up with a final record of 16-9.
Seniors Sydney Bast, Paige Cole, and Lauren Siegfried fittingly led the Lady Leopards in their final varsity match. Bast led the defense with 8 digs. Cole registered a team-high 12 kills and Siegfried setup the offense with a team leading 12 assists.
Jackson has swept Louisville in 12 straight matches dating back to the 2006 season, which includes 6 straight postseason matchups. The Leopards last beat the Polar Bears as part of the Jackson Invitational in 2005 by the count of 25-20, 25-18.
Louisville is now 15-14 in tournament matches since entering Division I in 2007. The Lady Leopards are now 4-4 in district championship matches all-time, but have lost in their last three DI district title appearances to the same Jackson program (2015 and 2016 as well).
