The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Jackson Polar Bears 71-51 in their season opener Tuesday Evening at Jackson High School.


Haren Scores Game-High 22 Points

Sophomore Brooke Haren scored 16 of her game-high 22 points in the second half to lead the Lady Leopards. Freshman Courtney Barwick also connected on 3 three-pointers and senior Kelsey Adelman added 9 points for Louisville.

The Lady Bears opened up the game on a 9-0 run and held the Leopards scoreless from the floor in the opening period. Jackson led 18-3 at the end of the first quarter and rolled to a 41-15 halftime lead.

Despite the deficit, Louisville continued to fight on in the second half. LHS outscored the Lady Bears 17-15 in the third quarter and 19-15 in the fourth quarter.


Pallotta Also Scores 22 to Lead Jackson

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdJackson was led by junior guard Lauren Pallotta who matched Haren with a game-high 22 points. Senior small forward Emma Dretke also scored 15 and sophomore guard Megan Campbell added 14.

The Polar Bears were deadly from beyond the arch hitting 8 three-pointers as a team. Campbell, Dretke, Pallotta, and Kendall Santelle hit a pair of threes each.


Polar Bears 7th Straight Win Over Leopards

The Lady Leopards have also dropped each of their last 7 games in the series played at JHS dating back to 2010. Louisville is now 15-25 against the Lady Bears all-time, which includes a 5-18 record when playing at Jackson.

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe 122 combined points is the most in the series when playing at JHS and the second highest scoring matchup all-time between the two foes. Back when both teams played in the Federal League, the Lady Leopards and Lady Polar Bears combined for 128 points. Louisville was victorious in that game 81-47 back on January 20, 1981.

The Lady Leopards JV squad opened up the season with a hard fought 33-27 loss against the host Lady Bears Tuesday at JHS.

Freshman Riley Walters led Louisville with a team-high 11 points and sophomore Sloane Sypolt also tacked on 6. Junior Anna Ramsey and sophomore Addy Thorne also added 4 points each for LHS.

Jackson was led by Brooke Taylor who hit a pair of three-pointers and finished with a game-high 12 points. Chloe Howard and Hannah Kunkle also scored 6 a piece for the Polar Bears.
