Cole Ties Own Kills Record, Louisville Falls in 5 Sets at Green – Volleyball

Samantha's Grill AdThe Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball team rallied, but fell in five sets to the host Green Bulldogs 23-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 14-16 Tuesday Night at Green High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 3-4 on the season.

Paige Cole tied her own school record with 37 kills to lead the Lady Leopards. Cole’s record-tying kill gave Louisville a 14-12 lead in the fifth set, leaving them just one point away from clinching the match. Instead, the Lady Bulldogs scored the final four points to take the set and the match.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdCole also recorded 37 kills in the Lady Leopards 2019 home finale victory over Claymont. She now sits at 177 kills for the season and 796 for her varsity career. Cole needs just 34 more kills to tie the school career record of 830 set by Alyx Crislip (2008-2010).

Kendal Loy led Louisville in serving with 15 service points and 2 aces. Lauren Siegfried also setup the offense with a team-high 33 assists.

On defense, Sydney Bast recorded a team-leading 26 digs and Lexi Jobe registered 3 blocks.

The Lady Leopards lost a competitive opening set 25-23 and the Lady Bulldogs seized momentum for a 25-16 second set victory. Louisville rallied back to edge out Green in the third and fourth sets 25-23 and 25-22.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Leopards held an early 5-1 advantage in the fifth set, but the Bulldogs rallied to knot the game at 10 a piece. LHS held one final lead at 14-12, but GHS ended it with 4 unanswered points to take the set 16-14. Green improves to 8-1 with the win.

This was the first meeting between the two programs (other than the preseason) since Louisville defeated Green 15-9, 15-8 in the DII Fairless Sectional Semifinals on October 20, 1992.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Warren G. Harding Raiders on Thursday, September 17. This will be the Volley for the Cure match with JV beginning at 5:00 PM and Varsity following around 6:00 PM.

JV: Green 25-25, Louisville 8-20

The Lady Leopards JV fell in two sets on the road against the Lady Bulldogs 8-25, 20-25. With the loss, Louisville JV is now 2-5 on the season.

Emma Wilson led the Lady Leopards with 4 kills and 2 aces serving. Brook Haren and Ava Kimble also finished with 3 kills and 1 ace each.
