Dougherty Breaks Shutout in 4th
The Leopards struggled to move the ball all night long, but put together a 10 play, 75 yard second half scoring drive to break the shutout midway through the fourth quarter. Sophomore runningback Owen DiMarzio ran left for 30 yards across midfield on the first play of the drive as the third quarter clock ran out. The first down was Louisville’s first of the game and it was the first time they had crossed into Bulldog territory all night.
On the first series of the fourth quarter, junior quarterback Tate Aljancic connected with sophomore wide receiver Luke Seaman who toe-tapped inbounds by the right sideline for a 15 yard completion down to the Green 31 yard line. DiMarzio ran a sweep to the left on the next play for 14 yards to setup the Leopards 1st-and-10 in the redzone.
Louisville moved the sticks one more time when Aljancic threw a screen pass to junior runningback Cam Dougherty to convert a 3rd-and-3 down to the 3 yard line. On the next play, Dougherty ran left through a hole made by blocks from freshman left tackle Trevor Burick and junior right guard Josh Nicholson. Senior tight end Austin Wade paved the way through the center of the opening and Dougherty reached the endzone while dragging another Bulldog defender from behind.
Dougherty’s touchdown along with Aljancic’s extra point cut the deficit to 42-7 with 6:28 remaining in the contest. Dougherty would finish with a 11 carries for 30 yards.

Paumier Hauls in Interception on Opening Drive
Green got the ball first to start the game and drove across midfield. On the sixth play of the drive, sophomore quarterback Tyson Hunka lofted a pass deep down field that was intercepted by Louisville junior defensive back Jacob Paumier. The Leopards have now recorded 6 interceptions this season on defense, which has accounted for all of their takeaways.
Louisville’s offense went three-and-out on the next drive and senior Owen Burick punted the ball on 4th-and-1. His boot netted 64 yards and rolled dead on the Green 7 yard line.
The Bulldogs gained a first down courtesy of a pass interference call against the Leopards. On 3rd-and-1, Gabe Stoffer stopped the ball carrier cold for no gain on a toss play to the right. Green was forced to punt as a result.
Louisville Vs. Green Football Series
The Leopards drop to 3-2 all-time against the Bulldogs with the loss, which includes a 1-2 mark when playing at Green Memorial Stadium. Green also defeated Louisville 49-24 during the 2021 season.
The Leopards are now 0-4 against Federal League opponents this season and have dropped 16 of their last 17 against Federal League foes. The lone victory in that span was a 27-23 win over Green last season at Louisville Leopards Stadium. Their last win over a Federal League opponent prior to that came in a 17-14 victory at GlenOak on September 4, 2020. Louisville will look to right the ship when they host the same Golden Eagles squad next Friday.
