Louisville’s 1st Win at Boardman in 74 Years
The win marks the first time Louisville has won at Boardman since defeating the Spartans in the 1947-48 season. The Louisville Blue Raiders (the final year before the LHS nickname was changed to the Leopards) won that Tri-County League battle by the count of 63-34.
“Another hot night came into existence for the touring Raiders as they literally blasted the Spartans off the court with a fine exhibition of scoring tallies.”
– 1948 LHS Mirror
Louisville had lost their previous six meetings at Boardman coming into the contest, including five matchups in recent history. They ended that trend Friday earning their second straight victory over the Spartans. This marks the first time Louisville has won back-to-back games against Boardman since the only other time they achieved the same feat in the 1941 and 1942 seasons.
Boardman still leads the all-time series 20-10 dating back to their first meeting in 1933.
