The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Boardman Spartans 51-39 Friday Night at Boardman High School. With the loss, Louisville falls to 2-1 on the young season.

Sophomore Will Aljancic made 3 three-pointers and scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Leopards. Senior Cory Noble also reached double digits with 12 points and junior AJ Lingenhoel added 4 points.

Spartans Pull Away in the Fourth

Samantha's Grill AdThe two teams battled to a 16-16 tie at the end of the first quarter before Boardman pulled ahead 27-22 by halftime. Louisville made up slight ground in the third quarter to get to within 36-32 heading into the final period. 

In the fourth quarter, the Spartans used a 7-2 run to jump ahead 43-34 midway through the quarter. Boardman would go on to extend their advantage to double digits in earning their 51-39 win.

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe Spartans (2-0) were led by Ethan Andersen who posted his second consecutive double-double with a game-high 16 points to go along with a team leading 11 rebounds. D.J. Evans also hit double figures with 10 points to go along with 6 boards. Other Boardman leaders included Spencer Smith who cashed in 3 of 4 three-point attempts to finish with 9 points and 4 rebounds, Luke Ryan who scored 8 points to go along with a team-high 4 assists, and Trey DePietro who pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with 6 points.

The Leopards have now lost their last three match-ups against the Spartans overall and have not won at Boardman in their 5 games played there since the start of the current series that began in 2015. Louisville is now 8-20 against the Spartans all-time in records dating back to 1933. Boardman holds a 6-2 edge in the current series played over the past 7 seasons.
