The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team soared to a 74-32 victory over the host Alliance Aviators Tuesday Night at Harry Fails Gymnasium at Alliance High School. With their second straight victory, Louisville improves to 3-1 on the season.

Gross Pours in Game High 21 to Lead Louisville

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdJunior forward Brayden Gross scored all of his game high 21 points in the first three quarters to lead the Leopards. He scored 6 each in the first two quarters of action and added 9 more in the third quarter to help Louisville build a 61-26 advantage heading in the fourth quarter. Gross also made 10 of Louisville’s 21 field goals on the night.

Senior forward Hayden Nigro made 3 three-pointers and finished with 17. Junior guard Beau Siegfried and junior forward Austin Wade also made a pair of three-pointers each. Siegfried would finish in double figures with 13 and Wade tacked on 8.


Leopards Stop Aviators in Customs

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieThe Leopards never trailed throughout the contest. Each team scored on an early layup, but then Louisville took control of the game with a 9-0 run.

The Aviators chipped away to get within 17-13 early on in the second quarter, but the Leopards roared back with a 13-0 run to take a 30-13 advantage. Louisville would maintain that 17-point advantage into halftime before outscoring Alliance 29-11 in the third quarter. With the 35-point margin, the running clock mercy rule was invoked in the Leopards favor for their second straight game.

Louisville outscored Alliance 13-6 in the fourth quarter to earn the 42-point victory, their largest ever against the Aviators.


Davis Leads Alliance With 9

Senior power forward K’Vaughn Davis scored 5 of his team high 9 points in the second half to lead Alliance. Sophomore point guard JR Jackson finished the evening with 8 and senior small forward Jayce Crockett added 7 to round out the Aviators top scorers.


Most Lopsided Game in Louisville-Alliance Rivalry

The 42-point win is the largest margin of victory by either team in the rivalry dating back 1928. Alliance once defeated visiting Louisville 52-15 for a 37-point win back on December 10, 1937. The Leopards previous largest victory over the Aviators was a 61-32 win at LHS on December 22, 2001.

Prior to Tuesday, Louisville had never won at Alliance by more than 16 points. The Leopards won at AHS by a 53-37 count in that game on December 21, 2002.


Leopards 1st Win at Alliance Since 2016

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Leopards have now taken 3 out of their last 4 against the Aviators since 2020. This is also Louisville’s first victory at Alliance since they earned a 65-55 win at Harry Fails Gymnasium on December 23, 2016. 

The Aviators still lead the all-time series 46-20 overall dating back to the first known meeting between the two schools 95 years ago.
