The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer Team dominated from start to finish in a 6-1 road victory over the Mapleton Mounties Saturday night at John E. Camp Stadium. With the win, Louisville has now claimed victory in four of its last five matches and improves to 8-5-1 on the season.
Lab Leads Louisville with Hat Trick
Senior Violet Lab recorded a hat trick to lead the Lady Leopards. She scored her first goal via an assist from Haile Folk at the 7:06 mark of the first half, giving Louisville a 2-0 advantage heading into the break. Folk had also assisted earlier on Alyssa Schillig’s opening goal in the 21st minute.
Lab picked up right where she left off, netting an unassisted goal less than seven minutes into the second half. She completed the hat trick with her third goal off an assist from Reese Riley with exactly 19:00 remaining.
Riley matched Folk with a team-best two assists, also setting up Kasey Lint’s goal in the 50th minute to make it 4-0.
The freshman combination of Ava Waggoner to Ava Seitz produced the Leopards’ final goal, pushing the lead to 6-0 with 11:10 left to play.
Edgein Turns Away Penalty Kick
Mapleton would spoil the shutout with a late goal, but junior goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein turned in another strong performance in net—finishing with four saves to anchor the Leopards’ back line. One of her stops came on a penalty kick, denying the Mounties a chance to close the gap earlier in the match.
Louisville controlled possession from the opening whistle, outshooting Mapleton 17-5 and earning all five of the game’s corner kicks. The Leopards used that early pressure to build a 2-0 halftime lead before pulling away in the second half.
Louisville is now 2-0 all-time against Mapleton, having also defeated the Mounties 6-1 at home last season.
