Griffith Blasts Go-Ahead 3-Run Homer in Third

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdAfter a slow offensive start, the Leopards erupted in the third inning to momentarily seize the lead. A leadoff double by Destiny Hanze and a single from Anna Sirohman sparked the rally. With two outs and two runners in scoring position, Bailee Griffith delivered a clutch three-run homer to center field to give Louisville a 3-1 advantage.

The blast marked Griffith’s team-leading third home run of the season and her second in as many games.

Dover Responds, Capitalizes on Louisville Errors

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdThe Tornadoes wasted no time answering in the bottom half of the third, capitalizing on two Louisville miscues. After a single and error brought home two runs, Dover’s Susie Peltz smashed the first of her three doubles to center to plate the go-ahead run in Avery Contini, putting the Tornadoes back in front 4-3.

Dover tacked on two more in the fifth. Alli Hupp reached on an error and came home on an RBI single from Contini. Later in the inning, Peltz again delivered a big hit—a double to left that brought in Contini to extend the Tornado lead to 6-3.

The Leopards committed three errors in total, which directly contributed to multiple Dover runs and the difference in the final outcome. The Tornadoes scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second when Madi Bantum reached on error scoring Peltz from second.

Lint Fans 13 to Limit Louisville Bats

Dover ace Kara Lint was dominant in the circle, going the distance while striking out 13 Leopard batters and walking only one. Lint retired the side in order three times and limited Louisville to six hits. She struck out the side in both the first and fifth innings and finished with 112 pitches, 85 of which were strikes.

After a three-run third inning, Louisville threatened again with runners on the corners in the fourth. But Lint struck out the next Leopard on three pitches to preserve Dover’s 4-3 advantage.

Hanze and O’Neill Record Multi-Hit Games

The Tornadoes out-hit the Leopards 10-6 despite multi-hit performances from Destiny Hanze and Shae O’Neill. Both batters went 2-for-3 for the game.

Peltz Leads Dover with Three Doubles

Peltz led the way for the Tornadoes going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three doubles and two RBIs. Contini added two hits and an RBI, while Molk tallied two singles and a walk to set the table at the top of the order. Olivia McCue had the only other extra basehit for Dover with a double in the opening inning.

The Lady Crimson Tornadoes (6-1) have now ripped off six straight after beginning the season with a 2-0 loss at Parkersburg South.
