Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdThe Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team split the opening two sets with Boardman before the host Spartans pulled away for a four-set victory Thursday night at Boardman High School.

Boardman defeated Louisville 25-17, 21-25, 25-8, 25-14 to improve to 13-3 overall and remain unbeaten at 7-0 in the AAC. The Lady Leopards dropped to 10-6 overall and 2-5 in league play.


Rukavina Leads Louisville With 12 Kills

Mongiardo Power Wash AdKloey Rukavina led the Louisville attack with 12 kills.

Aubrey Johnston paced the back row with 14 digs while also recording 7 service points and 2 aces. Ella Tillett added 5 kills and 2 blocks at the net.


Leopards Answer Opening-Set Loss

Boardman struck first with a 25-17 victory in the opening set, but Louisville responded in the second.

The Lady Leopards battled past the Spartans 25-21 to even the match at one set apiece and put themselves in position to challenge the AAC leaders.

Boardman seized control from there. The Spartans dominated the third frame 25-8 before carrying that momentum into a 25-14 fourth-set victory to close out the match.

The result completed a regular-season sweep for Boardman. The Spartans also won the first meeting at Louisville in five sets after rallying from a 2-0 deficit.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards Volleyball Team will next host St. Vincent-St. Mary and Lake for a tri-match on Saturday, October 3. Louisville will take on St. Vincent-St. Mary at 10:00 AM, Lake will battle St. Vincent-St. Mary in the middle game at 11:00 AM, and then Louisville will take on Lake at Noon. JV will be on the road at Lake and Freshman will be on the road at St. Vincent-St. Mary both in tri-matchs at the same time.


JV: Louisville 25-21-25, Boardman 15-25-23

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Louisville JV Volleyball Team earned a hard-fought road victory over Boardman, prevailing 25-15, 21-25, 25-23.

Louisville controlled the opening set before Boardman answered in the second to force a deciding third. The Lady Leopards then edged the Spartans 25-23 to secure the match.

Gianna Pederzolli led Louisville with 7 kills and 11 digs. Lilly Seaman recorded a team-high 15 digs and served 4 aces, while Izzy Manko added 4 kills and 4 aces. Setter Brynn Burick distributed 16 assists.

The JV Leopards improved to 13-3 on the season and 5-2 against league foes.


8th Grade: Louisville 25-25, Western Stark Catholic 17-9

West Main Vet Clinic AdThe Louisville eighth grade volleyball team closed out its regular season Thursday with a straight-set home victory over Western Stark Catholic, winning 25-17, 25-9.

Mia Wallace led the attack with 5 kills, while Quinn Bresson served 3 aces.

The victory improved Louisville to 15-5 heading into the end-of-season tournament Saturday in Austintown. 


7th Grade: Louisville 25-25, Western Stark Catholic 19-21

The Louisville seventh grade volleyball team also finished its regular season with a straight-set victory over Western Stark Catholic, winning 25-19, 25-21.

Bailey Manos and Rory Ziemke led the attack with 4 kills apiece. Charlotte Travis served 2 aces, while Layla Gomez recorded a block.

The victory improved the seventh grade Leopards to 15-5 on the season.

Louisville will next compete in the end-of-season tournament Saturday in Austintown.
