Louisville 41, Minerva 31

Jordan Monnot poured in a team-high 10 points, while Clara Lemmon and Hollyann Mullett added 8 each to lead the Louisville Lady Leopards over the visiting Minerva Lady Lions 41-31 in a key conference game Saturday afternoon.  With the victory, Louisville is now 11-3 overall and more importantly 8-0 in the NBC.

The Lady Leopards used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to take control of the game.  The Louisville defense shutout Minerva over this 3:40 span resulting in a 34-21 Leopard advantage.  Beatty's Winter HoodiesHannah Lemmon had three clean swats in the game to lead the tenacious Lady Leopards defense.

Mullett scored 6 of her 8 points in the final period and Emily Nees put in all 5 of her points in the final quarter as well.

The game was a slugfest from start to finish as the two teams combined for 30 total fouls and only 23 field goals.  The Leopards shot 67% (10 of 15) from the charity stripe for the game and made seven free throws in the final quarter to ice their victory.

Minerva was led by Rachel Blocher with 13 points and Josie Chaddock with 8.

Louisville has now defeated Minerva 4 straight times and holds a 36-18 record over them all-time.  The Lady Leopards have now won 20 consecutive NBC contests and their last 15 conference games at home.  Ironically it was the Lions who were the last NBC foe to win in Louisville 45-41 back on January 26, 2011.

Louisville will host Massillon in a rematch of last year’s sectional semifinal Wednesday before traveling to Beloit for a pivotal league game at West Branch Saturday.
