Lake 55, Louisville 29

The Lake Blue Streaks used a 22-5 second quarter to open up the game before defeating the Louisville Leopards 55-29 in the North Canton Division I Sectional Final at Walsh University.  Hannah Lemmon led Louisville with 9 points, while Jordan Monnot scored 8 and Clara Lemmon added 6.

Both teams shot just 25% in the opening quarter and the Lady Leopards were held scoreless from the field until Monnot hit from just in front of the foul line 5:03 into the contest.  8 of the Leopards 23 turnovers came in the first eight minutes, yet despite this they only found themselves down 8-5 after Hannah Lemmon hit a buzzer beating field goal at the end of the first.

But Louisville couldn’t seize momentum as Lake began the second quarter on an 11-0 run to take command of the contest.  Louisville was held scored for a span of 3:20 to start the quarter and was also shutout during the final 3:57 of the Beatty's Winter Hoodiesfirst half.  The Blue Streaks shot 9 of 16 from the field in the second quarter and altogether hit 5 three-pointers in the first half.  Miranda Diesz hit 3 of those triples and scored all 11 of her points in the opening half.

Lake would go on to outscore Louisville 15-10 in the third and 10-9 in the fourth.  The Blue Streaks for the game made 6 of 14 (43%) three-pointers and shot 41% (21 of 51) from the field altogether.  Lake was led by Baylee Hymes who scored 14 points and also hit 3 three-pointers.  Baylen Drylund also broke double figures for Lake with 11.

The Lady Leopards shot a dismal 24% (10 of 41) from the field for the game, which proved to be the difference in the contest.  The Blue Streaks out-rebounded the Leopards 35-34, but Monnot led all rebounders for Louisville with 12.

With the loss, Lake has now defeated Louisville in their past three meetings and is 2-0 all-time against the Leopards in tournament play.  But, Louisville still leads the all-time series 21-16. The Lady Leopards finish the season at 16-7, while the Lady Blue Streaks move to 20-4 and will look to play Canton McKinley in the District Semifinals.
