Leopards Take 15th Against Tough Field at Polar Bear Invitational

The Louisville Leopards Boys Golf Team competed at the prestigious Polar Bear Invitational at Shady Hollow Country Club Monday. Louisville tallied a team score of 356 to finish 15th out of tough field of 18 teams.
Sam Karcher led the Leopards by shooting a team low 87. Ryan Aljancic and Jack Mayle both carded an 88 and Zach Root rounded out the scoring with a 93. Cole Miller also shot a 94 in his varsity debut.
“I always enjoy the van ride home when they talk about what they need to improve and where they felt that they wasted shots on their round. This group is going to push each other to keep getting better. We were 7 shots better than Friday on a tougher golf course and nobody played their best round. I can’t wait to see the scores that they put up throughout the season…the future is bright! I am just glad that i get to enjoy the ride with them. Great athletes, but better kids!”

The Akron Archbishop Hoban Knights won the tournament with a team score of 294. The Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs took second as a team shooting 297 and were led by tournament medalist Dan Paige who shot a 68. Carson Bellish, who represented the Pickerington North Panthers, came in as runner-up individually by finishing with 70. The Garaway Pirates also took third and the host Jackson Polar Bears finished as the best team in Stark County by placing 4th.
Louisville finished ahead of all three participating Eastern Buckeye Conference schools who rounded out the bottom three team scores: Marlington 372, Alliance 380, and Canton South 411.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next compete at the Alliance Invitational on Tuesday, August 11. Tee-time is set for 9:00 AM from Alliance Country Club.
