The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team earned a convincing 56-33 win over the visiting North Canton Hoover Vikings Wednesday Night at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville remains undefeated in starting 3-0 for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

Haren Leads Louisville 1st Quarter Surge
Senior Brooke Haren erupted for 15 points in the opening quarter as the Lady Leopards got off to another hot start. Louisville scored the first five points of the contest and stormed out to a 12-2 advantage. Haren then buried back-to-back three-pointers to cap off Louisville’s opening 18-4 run.
The Lady Leopards would take a 26-10 lead by the end of the first quarter to once again play in front. Louisville has now outscored the opposition 67-19 in the opening period this season and has compiled the following runs to open the game in the process:
- 17-4 Vs. Austintown Fitch
- 18-3 At Dalton (9-0 to start)
- 18-4 Vs. North Canton Hoover
Haren would finish with 17 of her game high 19 points in the opening half to lead the Lady Leopards. Louisville rolled to a 38-20 halftime advantage and outscored North Canton 18-13 in the second half to cruise to victory.
Barwick Cashes In from Long Range
Junior Courtney Barwick hit 3 three-pointers for the second straight game. She scored 7 points in each half to finish in double figures with 14.
Eight different Lady Leopards left their mark in the scorebook Wednesday. Sophomore Taylor McCully also tallied 8 and fellow sophomore Maggie Baker dropped in 6.
Moore Leads North Canton
Junior shooting guard Lauren Moore scored 6 of her team high 9 points in the second half to lead the Lady Vikings. Sophomore shooting guard Zoe McCort and senior center Ameia “Jo” Smith also added 7 each to round out Hoover’s top scorers.
North Canton drops to 0-1 with the season opening loss.
First Home Win Over Hoover Since 1993
After dropping 12 straight to the Lady Vikings from 1994-2022, Louisville has now defeated Hoover convincingly in each of the past two seasons. The Lady Leopards earned their first victory at North Canton in 34 years when they defeated the Vikings 60-42 inside the “Wind Tunnel” in February.
Wednesday’s win marks the first time that Louisville has defeated Hoover within the confines of Louisville High School since December 30, 1993. The Lady Leopards won that matchup 45-43. The Lady Vikings had won the last 6 matchups played at LHS coming into the evening.
Fourth Largest Win Over North Canton All-Time
The 23-point margin of victory is the highest by Louisville over Hoover since the Lady Leopards downed the Lady Vikings 71-37 during their AP Poll Title season of 1992.

Lady Leopards Even Series
The series between the longtime rival schools is now even at 23-23, which includes an even 12-12 mark in games played at Louisville in the series.
This is the eighth time in team history that the Lady Leopards have started the season 3-0.
