Collins Scores Opening Touchdown for Hoover
Hoover struck first late in the opening quarter. Quarterback John Collins capped an 8-play, 64-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run at the 2:54 mark to give the Vikings a 7–0 lead.
Leopards Can’t Capitalize on Early Red Zone Trips
The Leopards drove into the red zone on their second drive when quarterback Gabe Stoffer found Colton Norris for a 31-yard reception to the Hoover 18. The next three plays lost 16 yards, forcing a punt on 4th-and-36.
Louisville’s defense kept the Vikings in check for much of the second quarter, forcing Hoover into poor field position and taking advantage of special teams miscues. The Leopards took over inside the Viking 5 after the Hoover punter put a knee on the turf while attempting to retrieve a low snap. Louisville was unable to punch it in and a bobbled snap on the field goal attempt led to a desperation pass to the end zone falling incomplete and Hoover taking back over on their own 5 yard line.

Wilson Touchdown Run Matches Hoover Score
The Leopard defense nearly came up with a safety on third down, but the Vikings ended up punting out of their own end zone. The ensuing punt bounced out of bounds at the Hoover 40.
Louisville strung together a 10-play, 40-yard scoring drive to knot the game up before halftime. The drive was keyed by a Stoffer to Anderson Kandel 13-yard completion on 4th-and-5 and a 4th-and-1 conversion that set up goal-to-go after the Vikings were penalized for having 12 men on the field. Two plays later, Wilson blasted into the end zone from 4 yards out. Parker Daum’s extra point tied the game at 7–7 with 3:07 left before halftime.
Lukens Interception Preserves Halftime Tie
The Vikings gifted the Leopards with another short field before halftime on another mishap in the punting game. A low snap was mishandled and Drake Wilson blew up the punter in the backfield for a 6-yard loss giving Louisville starting field position at the North Canton 29.
However, on 4th-and-4, a pass deflected off a Leopard receiver’s hands and Carter Lukens alertly snagged it for an interception, returning it 26 yards to the Hoover 37. The score remained 7–7 at halftime.
Vikings Seize Control in Second Half
Momentum swung immediately out of halftime. Hoover’s Brycen Beyer took the opening kickoff of the second half 88 yards to the house, instantly putting the Vikings back in front 14–7. Louisville flipped the field with a 58-yard punt from Stoffer, but Hoover again found the end zone on its next possession. Jack Andes powered in from 3 yards out with 5:48 left in the third, finishing a 9-play, 78-yard drive to give the Vikings a commanding 21–7 advantage.
Hoover continued to grind down the Leopards in the final quarter. Andes broke free for a 30-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-4 with 11:10 to play, stretching the lead to 28–7. After Aidan Kish returned an interception deep into Louisville territory, David Wadley drilled a 25-yard field goal at the 6:03 mark to make it 31–7.
Regimbal Scores Late Leopard Touchdown
The Leopards responded with a late 75-yard drive, capped by Stoffer’s 18-yard touchdown strike to Gabe Regimbal with 3:53 remaining to cut the deficit to 31-13.
The two-point try failed and Hoover recovered the onside kick to close out the win.
Louisville Leaders
Stoffer went 12-of-30 through the air for 165 yards. Norris led the team in receiving with 46 yards on two catches. Stoffer’s top targets were Quin Burick and Luke Seaman who caught three passes each. Burick accounted for 43 yards, Seaman 21 yards, and Regimbal 18 yards on his lone catch for a touchdown.
Running Back Owen DiMarzio rushed for 28 yards and had an 18-yard reception. Wilson also added 23 yards on the ground.
Stoffer also recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter on defense.
Andes Leads Hoover Offense After Collins Injury
Hoover’s offense was powered by its ground game. Starting quarterback John Collins sustained a first-half injury and the Vikings changed their game plan at halftime. Andes stepped in, taking direct snaps and carrying 17 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Lammlein and Ryan Crawford combined for 59 rushing yards to complement the backfield.
Beyer provided the spark with 106 kick return yards including his 88-yard touchdown and added a 32-yard catch. Preston Coblentz also made a 26-yard reception and Wadley connected on all four of his extra points, and he added a 25-yard field goal.
Vikings Win 5th Straight Against Leopards
The Vikings have now won the last six matchups in the rivalry and 9 out of the last 10 games overall. The Leopards’ last victory was a 43-36 home win in 2019. Louisville still maintains a sizable edge in the all-time series 56-42-5, which includes a 31-18-3 advantage at home.
