Canton South Wildcats at Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball 2016 Video Highlights

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team clinched at least a share of the NBC with a 59-23 victory over the visiting Canton South Wildcats Saturday Afternoon at Louisville High School. With their 17th consecutive win, Louisville is now 17-1 overall and a perfect 13-0 in conference play.
Sabryna Benzel scored a game-high 10 points, snagged a game-high 5 rebounds, and had 3 steals to lead the Lady Leopards. Alexa Oberster also scored 8 points, Grace Jackson & Sarah Lairson finished with 7 points & 4 steals a piece, and Abby Beaver dished out a game-high 6 assists for Louisville.
The Leopards defense suffocated the Wildcats holding them to just an 8 of 34 (23%) performance from the field and forcing them to commit 31 turnovers. Oppositely, Louisville shot 44% (22 of 50) from the floor which included making 4 of 7 (57%) shots from downtown.
The Leopards dominated from start to finish outscoring Canton South in every quarter. They led 23-10 at the half and extended their lead to 45-17 by the end of the third quarter. The bench cleared in the fourth quarter and Louisville finished with 26 points bench points for the entire contest.
The Wildcats (7-12, 3-10) were led by Kamryn Tharp who scored a team-high 6 points, had 4 rebounds, and a block. Brooke Noll and Emily Thompson also added 4 points each for Canton South.
With the victory, the Lady Leopards have now won 11 of their last 12 against the Lady Wildcats. Louisville now leads the all-time series 62-24, which includes a 32-10 mark at home.
The Lady Leopards are now just the third team in program history to win 17 straight games in single season and are tied for the third longest regular season winning streak (with the combined years of 1989-90 to 1990-91) in LHS Girls Basketball history.
They can also have a chance to become just the second team in Lady Leopards History to complete a perfect run through the NBC when they travel to Carrollton on Wednesday. Louisville has now won 10 NBC Titles in program history and will look for their 7th Outright crown when the head down to the Black Hole. The Lady Leopards have won the NBC in 4 of the past 6 seasons and 7 of the past 11 seasons overall.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to New Philadelphia to take on the Quakers on Monday, February 1. JV starts at 6:00 PM and Varsity follows around 7:30 PM.
