Louisville Defeats Dover for Program’s 600th Win – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Dover Tornadoes 42-23 Saturday Night at Louisville High School. With their fourth straight victory, Louisville improves to 4-2 on the season. The milestone victory is the 600th in the history of the Lady Leopards Basketball Program.

Haren and Barwick Outscore Dover

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdJunior Brooke Haren scored a game high 13 points and sophomore Courtney Barwick dropped in 11 to lead Louisville. The duo combined for 24 points to outscore Dover 24-23 just between the two of them.

Other top scorers for the Lady Leopards included freshman Taylor McCully with 7 and senior Taryn Miglich with 5.


Zobel Leads Tornadoes with 9

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdSophomore point guard Avianna Zobel scored a team high 9 points to lead the Lady Tornadoes. Sophomore power forward Morgan Karam also made a pair of three-pointers to finish with 6 and junior power forward Josee Werntz added 4.

Karam made a three-pointer for the first points of the game to put Dover ahead 3-0. Louisville roared back with a 16-2 run to take a double digit lead into the second period. The Lady Leopards then doubled up the Tornadoes 8-4 in the second quarter and expanded their lead to 36-14 by the end of the third quarter. LHS rolled to victory after that.


Louisville Wins 5th Straight Vs. Dover

Louisville has now defeated Dover in each of their past five meetings including in each of the past four seasons. The Lady Leopards are now 10-6 against the Lady Tornadoes all-time dating back to their first meeting in 1989, which includes a 5-3 record when playing at Louisville.

Lady Leopards Win 600th Game

Jenny Can Cleaning AdWith the victory, Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball becomes the 55th different OHSAA program to reach 600 victories (according to the OHSAA website records). The Lady Leopards are now 600-448 (.573) all-time since the program began in the 1974-75 season.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next hit the road for the first time all season when they travel to Canton McKinley on Wednesday, December 21. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:15 PM from Canton Memorial Fieldhouse.
