Davis Resigning as Louisville Leopards Head Football Coach
Troy Davis announced he would be resigning as head coach of the Louisville Leopards Football Team Monday afternoon in a meeting with the varsity team.
“Today at 2 PM I met with the varsity team to let them know that I am resigning from my position as Head Football Coach of the Louisville Leopards. This was a decision that came with a lot of careful consideration and deliberation.”

Highlights from the Davis Era
Davis replaced one year head coach Jeff Twiddy in 2020 and compiled a record of 7-22 in three seasons as an independent. No other coach in the history of Leopard football has ever coached more than a single season as an independent outside of a league.
Davis’ signature victories included guiding Louisville their first victory at GlenOak since 1978, defeating West Virginia powerhouse Linsly Academy in the 2021 season finale, and rallying from 16 points down to defeat defending regional champion Green. His tenure also included hard fought road wins at Central in 2020, at Alliance in 2021, and over former Leopard Head Coach John Demarco during a 16-6 win at Northwest this past season.
Davis’ final victory came in a 24-17 double overtime thriller against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in Week 9 avenging his only playoff loss.
