Haren Drops 25 as Leopards March Past Crusaders 62-49 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Canton Central Catholic Crusaders 62-49 Wednesday Night at Louisville High School. With their third victory in 4 games, Louisville improves to 8-5 on the season.

Haren Pours In Game High 25 for LHS
Junior shooting guard Brooke Haren scored 14 of her game high 25 points in the second half to lead the Lady Leopards. She converted from the field in every quarter and also buried 9 of 10 free throws during the contest.
Haren was also a perfect 7 for 7 from the line to help Louisville ice the game in the fourth quarter.
Three Leopards Finish in Double Figures
Two other Lady Leopards also finished with double figures for the evening. Freshman shooting guard Taylor McCully tallied 13 and senior shooting guard Taryn Miglich also tacked on 11. Each made 3 three-pointers during the game, which included McCully’s buzzer beater from the top of the key to end the first half.
Junior point guard Lexi Wasara also scored all 9 of her points in the second quarter as Louisville took command of the game in the first half. The Lady Leopards held a 13-11 edge at the end of the first, but outscored the Lady Crusaders 18-8 in the second quarter to pull ahead 31-19 at the break. Louisville never trailed the rest of the way in outscoring Central 31-30 in the second half to roll to the double digit home win.
Belden Leads Central With 18
S. Belden scored 11 of her team high 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Crusaders. Belden also made a pair of three-pointer in the final stanza and finished with 3 for the game.
Other top scores for Canton Central Catholic included Johnson with 9, Belden with 6, and Ellerbrock with 6.
Louisville Takes Series Lead Over Central
The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Crusaders in four straight meetings dating back to 2018. The head-to-head series was tied coming into the game, but Louisville now leads the all-time series 23-22. The Lady Leopards are now 11-8 against Central Catholic when playing at home in the series. Louisville has now won the last three matchups played at LHS in the series.
The victory was Head Coach Jeff Couto’s 150th career coaching victory.
