Haren Scores Game High 24 to Lead Leopards

Jenny Can Cleaning AdSophomore guard Brooke Haren scored a game high 24 points to lead the Lady Leopards. Freshman Courtney Barwick also finished with 13 points, senior Kendal Loy scored 6 points, and senior Kelsey Adelman added 5 points.

The game remained tight throughout as neither team was able to gain a lead larger than four points through the first three quarters of action. Louisville held a 14-13 edge at the end of the first quarter and slightly extended their advantage to 27-25 by halftime. The Leopards then outscored the Cardinals 14-12 in the third quarter to take a 41-37 lead into the final period.

Louisville Puts the Game on Ice from the Line

Louisville finally obtained that elusive five point advantage early on in the fourth quarter when Loy split a pair of shots from the charity line to extend the LHS advantage to 42-37. Canfield managed to trim their deficit to a single possession twice in the fourth quarter. Junior Kate Sahli came up with the big bucket for the Cardinals to cut their disadvantage to 46-43 with 1:15 to play.

The Lady Leopards successfully stalled to run precious seconds off the clock before Canfield was forced to foul putting Louisville in the bonus. Barwick made the most of the Leopards first one-and-one opportunity by sinking both free throw attempts to increase the Louisville lead to 48-43 with 32.9 seconds to go in the game.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Leopards defense clamped down tight on the other end which forced a Cardinal turnover via a traveling call. Haren was fouled and hit the front end of two free throw attempts to increase the LHS advantage to 49-43. Her second attempt rimmed out, but Adelman was Johnny-on-the-spot to corral a clutch offensive board and retain possession for Louisville.

Adelman quickly kicked a pass back out to Haren who was fouled again. Haren sunk both free throw attempts this time to ice the contest for the Leopards at 51-43 with 18.2 seconds to play.

Muckleroy Leads Cardinals with Team High 14

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdCanfield (14-6) was led by junior Abby Muckleroy who made 4 three-pointers and poured in a team high 14 points. Senior shooting guard Alyssa Dill also scored 7, and both guard Deanna Mike and senior point guard Summer Sammarone added 6 each.

The Lady Leopards victory snaps their streak of 6 straight losses to the Lady Cardinals that began back in 2018. Canfield still leads the all-time series 11-4 overall, but the series is now even at 3-3 when played at Louisville.
