Lady Leopards Cast Aside Blue Devils 60-35 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team earned a convincing 60-35 victory over the visiting Berlin Center Western Reserve Blue Devils Monday Night at Louisville High School. With their fifth straight victory, the Lady Leopards are now off to their best start since 2015-16 at 5-1 on the year. This is also the first time Louisville has strung together five straight victories since 2016.
Haren Pours in Game High 21 for Leopards
Sophomore Brooke Haren scored a game high 21 points to lead the Lady Leopards. Senior Kelsey Adelman also dropped in 11 and junior Taryn Miglich added 8 for Louisville.
Western Reserve sophomore point guard Lindsay Jones opened up the game with a three-pointer to give the Blue Devils their only lead of the contest at 3-0. The Lady Leopards quickly answered back with a 7-0 run before Jones hit another shot from beyond the arch to cut the LHS lead to 7-6. Louisville responded again by scoring the final six points of the period to take a 13-6 lead into the second quarter.
Jones converted her third and final three-pointer of the night to open the second stanza, trimming the Leopard advantage to 13-9. Like clockwork Louisville answered with another 6-0 run to pull ahead by double digits. Haren would finish with 13 points in the opening half while also dazzling the crowd. Late in the second quarter, she inbounded a pass off a defender to herself before laying it home for two. The Lady Leopards went into the break in the driver’s seat up 28-15.
Leopards Pull Away in 2nd Half
The two teams exchanged points back-and-forth nine times before Louisville ended the third quarter on one of its patented 6-0 runs. The Lady Leopards led 42-26 heading into the fourth quarter as a result.
Berlin Center junior Madison Leone opened the scoring in the final quarter to trim the Blue Devil deficit o 42-28 with 7:12 to play. In response, Louisville strung together a 12-0 run to pull ahead by their largest margin of the contest at 54-28. Western Reserve would not score from the floor again until Jones drove to the hoop for a layup with 1:16 to play. The Lady Leopards doubled up the Lady Blue Devils 18-9 in the fourth quarter to seal their fifth straight victory and avenge their loss at Berlin Center from a year ago.
Jones Scores 16 to Lead Blue Devils
Jones hit 3 three-pointers and finished with a team high 16 points to lead the Lady Blue Devils. Sophomore Angelina Cappabianca also scored 7 and sophomore Alyvia Hughes posted 6 for Berlin Center.
The Lady Leopards are now 1-1 against the Blue Devils all-time. Louisville fell at Berlin Center Western Reserve in a 45-42 heartbreaker last season in their only other meeting.
