BASEBALL

Louisville 16, Minerva 8

Mike Kelly and Jeremy White each had four runs driven in to lead Louisville past Minerva 16-8.  The Leopards spotted the Lions a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but roared back for seven runs in the bottom of the inning.  The lead-off hitting Kelly also went 4-for-4 with a double and scored four runs.  White hit a line drive solo shot to center field to lead off the second inning after doubling on in the first.  White, Dillon Stertzbach, and Riley Groves all crossed the plate three times each in doubling up the Lions on the scoreboard.  Louisville’s patience at the plate allowed them to draw eight walks and score 16 runs on just 12 hits.

SOFTBALL

Louisville 10, Northwest 3

Desi Givens and Chandler Rice combined for two home runs, five hits, and six RBIs in leading the Lady Leps to a 10-3 home win agains the Northwest Indians.  Givens and Rice hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to rip open a relatively close game.  Givens cracked a three-run homer well over the fence to make it 9-3 and then Rice put the exclamation point on the Leps victory by busting a car windshield in the parking lot well beyond the left-center field fence.  The last blast by Rice gives the Lady Leps 18 home runs on the year, which is a new team single-season record.

Freshman pitcher Gianna Falcone remained undefeated from the circle as she picked up her sixth victory of the season.  Brittany Flanigan also pitched a six out save, her first of the season.
