Swope Puts Leopards in Front Just Before Half

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdJunior Kadan Swope scored with just 34 seconds before halftime to give the Leopards their first lead of the game. Swope was able to gain control of a throw in from the away sideline by senior Cameron Young. Swope tapped the ball to the right to gain separation from his defender and then blasted the ball into the top left cornet of the net past the Aurora goalkeeper.

Louisville would take that 1-0  lead into the half and hold it until late in the second half.


Savukis Scores Late to Force Overtime

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieThe two teams continued to hold each other off the board until the 77th minute. Aurora’s Parker Seitz crossed the ball right to left into the goal box and Alex Savukis one-timed it into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 with 3:27 to play.

Neither team was able to score again in regulation and the game went to overtime.


Shanholtzer Sends Greemen to District Finals

Issue 34 Levy AdNeither team scored in the first overtime and the game continued on into the second overtime period. The stalemate was finally broken in the 105th minute. Jonah Shanholtzer took control off a deflected pass and booted a hard liner into the back of the right side of the net to end the game with 5:57 remaining in double overtime.

The Greenmen improve to 11-5-3 with the victory and will advance to take on the top seeded Walsh Jesuit Warriors on Saturday at 2:00 PM in the DI Northeast 1 District Championship held at Barberton’s Sharkey Stadium.

This was the first ever meeting between Louisville and Aurora in boys soccer. The Greemen are the Leopards’ 64th unique opponent all-time.


1st LHS Double Overtime Game Since 2005

This was the first time Louisville has played a double overtime game since 2005. The Leopards lost in the sectional finals that year to Ravenna after the game went into double overtime followed by penalty kicks.

Louisville is now 1-3 all-time when entering overtime. Their lone win came in last year’s sectional semifinal against GlenOak in which Cameron Young delivered a golden goal with 3:59 remaining in the first overtime.

The Leopards are now 22-24 all-time in the tournament, which includes a 14-8 record when playing at home in the postseason. Louisville is now 5-6 in the tournament when competing in Division I.

Leopard head coach Jared Komo is now 11-6 in the tournament, which is the highest postseason winning percentage by a Louisville boys soccer coach all-time.
