Clock Strikes Midnight for Leopards in OT at Orrville – Boys Socceer

The #7 Seed Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team fell to the host #3 Seed Orrville Red Riders 3-2 in overtime of the DII Canton District Semifinals Tuesday Night at Red Rider Stadium. With the loss, Louisville finishes the season 7-10-2 after starting the season 0-4.
Riley Adams scored a pair of goals to lead the Leopards. Adams broke the ice with an unassisted goal early on in the first half. After Orrville took a 2-1 halftime lead, Adams scored early out of the break at the 38:14 mark of the second half via an assist from Kael Mickley.
Neither team would score again in regulation as Louisville entered just their second overtime game in their 20-year team history. Nicholas McFarren was the hero for the Red Riders in the extra period scoring the golden goal off a corner kick to send Orrville to the DII Canton District Championship on Saturday, October 26. They will take on the 5th Seed Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 4:00 PM. St. Vincent-St. Mary stunned top seeded Marlington 2-1 with their game-winning score coming with 1:07 left in the game.
This was the first meeting between the Leopards and the Red Riders since 2005. Louisville had won the last two games in the series earning an 8-0 shutout at Orrville in 2004 and a 1-0 shutout at home in 2005. The Red Riders lead the all-time series 5-2 overall with this being their first postseason matchup.
The Leopards drop to 14-20 all-time in the postseason, which includes a 3-13 record on a road. Louisville is now 0-2 in game’s that go beyond regulation time. The only other time the Leopards went to overtime came in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Ravenna Ravens on October 20, 2005 in the DII University Heights Sectional Finals.
Louisville has won a tournament game in 12 out of their 20 seasons in team history, but this year is the first time they won twice before bowing out.
