The Louisville Leopards Varsity Wrestling Team was dominate in their tri-match against the Alliance Aviators and Canfield Cardinals in their home opener Wednesday night at Louisville High School. Louisville clobbered Canfield 61-14 and then took down Alliance 73-6.

Louisville 61, Canfield 14

The Leopards kicked off the evening with a powerful showing against Canfield, racking up points with a mix of pins, technical falls, and major decisions.

Xavier Pollard (113) jumpstarted Louisville’s momentum, pinning in just 1:42. Colton Rhoads (120) followed with a flawless 18-0 technical fall victory, Liam Montgomery (126) added a 12-0 major decision, and Logan Demos (132) continued the onslaught with a 16-1 technical fall. Just like that the Leopards had pounced on the Cardinals to the tune of 20-3.

The Leopards sealed the win with key contributions from their middleweights. Aric Criss (144) was dominate in a 22-5 technical fall victory. Beau Nezbeth (150) and Wyatt Smith (165) both pinned the opposition in the second period. Abel Bolyard (157) also made quick work of his opponent with a 52-second pin that would help him earn him “Wrestler of the Match” honors from Spotlight Media.

Heavyweights Wyatt Skolosh (190), Jakeb Beard (215), and Zander McCrobie (285) each added emphatic pins to close out the match.

Winners from Canfield included Cam Milnarsik (106) by 11-6 decision, Tyler Scharrer (138) by fall in 5:42, and Nate Smyczynski (175) by 17-1 technical fall.

Louisville 73, Alliance 6

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdLouisville carried their momentum into the second match of the evening. They built a 55-0 advantage from the outset and overwhelmed Alliance with a near-shutout 73-6 performance.

The Leopards would win the first 10 bouts of the match, winning by fall in 7 of them. Paxton Laughlin (106) kicked things off with a pin. Colton Rhoads (120) and Liam Montgomery later won by fall in back-to-back matches. The duo of Lucas Neff (138) and Aric Criss (144) also matched that feat with successive pins. Abel Bolyard (157) and Tim Clemens (165) became the third combination to registered consecutive falls. Bolyard needed just 52 seconds for his pin and Clemens topped that with with fastest pin of the night in just 40 seconds. 

Altogether Louisville won by fall in 10 of its 14 matchups. The Leopards ended the evening with three straight pins in the heavyweights by Wyatt Skolosh (190), Jakeb Beard (215), and Zander McCrobie (285). Skolosh and McCrobie each won in the first period as the heavyweight trio needed just 6:53 total to take out its victims.

The Leopards won 13 of their 14 bouts overall. Xavier Pollard (113) earned a 14-4 major decision, Kaiden Barker (132) won by 21-5 technical fall, and Beau Nezbeth (150) blanked his opponent with an 8-0 major decision.

Ben Hall (175) was the lone victor for Alliance with a pin in 2:39.
