The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team earned a 43-26 road victory over the host Dover Tornadoes Saturday Afternoon at Dover High School. With their fourth straight victory, Louisville improves to 4-1 on the season.


Haren Scores Game-High 15 to Lead Louisville

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdSophomore Brooke Haren scored 7 over her game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Leopards. Freshman Courtney Barwick and senior Aubrey Thorne also added 9 each to round out Louisville’s leading scorers.

Haren scored 6 points in the opening quarter as the Leopards battled to an 8-7 advantage at the end of one.


Jones Leads Dover to Halftime Tie

Jenny Can Cleaning AdDover edged Louisville 12-11 in the second quarter courtesy of a last second game-tying three-pointer by senior guard Tori Jones. The three was her third of the first half as the Tornadoes knotted the game at 19-19 heading into the locker room.

Jones matched Haren for the game-high in scoring. She poured in 13 of her 15 points in the opening half alone.


Leopards Take Command with 13-1 Run

The Lady Leopards never trailed in the second half after beginning the third quarter on a 6-0 run. Senior Kelsey Adelman scored the first points of the second half and Barwick followed with a three-pointer. Dover didn’t find the basket until midway through the third quarter when Jones notched her final points of the afternoon in cutting the Louisville lead to 25-21. Senior forward Morgan Kiser followed with another Tornado basket to cut the DHS deficit to 25-23.

That would be as close as the game would get as the Leopards scored the next 10 points as part of a 13-1 run to take complete command of the contest. Thorne made her second three-pointer before the end of the third to put Louisville up 31-23 heading into the fourth. She later capped off the LHS run with her third three-pointer of the game to put the blue and white in front 38-24 midway through the the final period.


Louisville Holds Dover to Lone Field Goal in 4th

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Lady Leopards defense shut down the Tornadoes in the second half only allowing them to make three shots from the field. Werntz made Dover’s lone fourth quarter field goal midway through the period to trim the lead to 38-26. All remaining points in the game came off the hands of Haren who hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final minutes to help Louisville open up their largest lead of the contest at 43-26.


Louisville Vs. Dover Girls Basketball History

The Leopards have now defeated the Tornadoes in four straight meetings dating back to 2005. Louisville leads the all-time series 9-6, which includes a 5-3 record when playing at Dover.
