Boys Soccer Blanks Boardman to Open Tournament
Louisville 2, Boardman 0
The #6 Seed Louisville Leopards shutout the #10 Seed Boardman Spartans 2-0 in the DI Austintown Sectional Semifinals Wednesday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 11-3-3 on the season and advances to the Sectional Finals at Jackson against the top seeded Polar Bears on Saturday.
The Leopards scored first when Alex Stefanik rebounded his own shot and rocketed the ball into the top middle of the net with 23:17 left in the opening half. Bailey Adams put the play into motion after intercepting a Spartans pass and pushing the ball ahead to Stefanik just seconds before.

Adams picked up his second assist less than two minutes into the second half. He again stole the ball from a Boardman player and then led a pass a little too far ahead. However, the Spartans goalie misplayed it and the ball went through to Louisville teammate Kyle Mayle who tapped it home for the score making it 2-0.
Neither team scored the rest of the way as the Leopards recorded their team record-tying 7th shutout of the season. Louisville also successfully blanked 7 foes in 2012. Goalie Jarrett Zwick recorded the shutout with 9 saves for the Leopards.
Louisville out-shot Boardman 22-12 despite trailing in corner kicks 5-3 for the contest. The Leopards are now 1-2 against Spartans all-time which includes a 1-1 mark in games at Louisville. The Leopards also improve their all-time tournament record to 11-16, which includes a 9-6 mark at home.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Jackson to take on the top seeded Polar Bears in the DI Austintown Sectional Finals on Saturday, October 22 at 7:00 PM.
