#4 Top Moment 2012-13: Girls Tennis Goes Perfect 80-0 Vs. NBC
Lady Leopards Clinch NBC Vs. Marlington
The 2012 campaign was a special season for Lady Leopards Tennis. The girls were NBC Champions, but that was nothing new because they had won the league the past two seasons. The Lady Leps also finished a perfect 8-0 in the conference, but they also did that in 2010 and 2011.
What truly made this year’s team special was that they shutout their opponents in all eight NBC matches. And while that is a rare feat not likely to be repeated, let’s not stop there. Louisville Girls Tennis was so dominate in league play this season that they did not even lose a single set. That’s 80 sets played and 80 sets won.
#1 Singles Player Gretchen Groves was named NBC Player of the Year and finished with an overall record of 13-2. #2 Singles Player Alexis Isla also finished 13-2 and #3 Singles Player Sam Pukys finished with a record of 14-1. The #1 Doubles Team of Ciara Antonacci and Hannah Lemmon also ended the season with a 14-1 record. All 5 of these Lady Leopards were named first team All-NBC and Rod Hall was named NBC Coach of the Year as well.
Overall Louisville finished the season 14-1 and is 45-3 in dual matches over the past three seasons. They will look to extend their 27 Match NBC Winning Streak into next season in hopes of continuing the Dynasty of Leopard Tennis.
