The #18 seed Louisville Leopards Boys Lacrosse Team defeated the visiting #19 seed West Geauga Wolverines 11-7 in the opening round of the Division II, Region 6 tournament Tuesday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 3-11 on the season and advances to play at #1 Hunting Valley University School on Thursday, May 16 at 5:30 PM.

Balderson & Beckett Record Hat Tricks for LHS

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieBlake Balderson and Hayden Beckett each recorded hat tricks to lead the Leopards. Balderson scored a goal in each of the first three quarters and also tallied a game high 3 assists for the game. Beckett scored goals in each of the final three quarters including his hat trick goal that came with 3:42 left in the game.

Seth Colley and Brandon Pittman also added a pair of goals each for Louisville. Colley additionally provided assists for scores by Balderson and Beckett.

Pittman added an assist on Balderson’s hat trick goal with 1:01 remaining in the third quarter. That goal followed an excessive celebration penalty against the Wolverines that allowed the Leopards to take possession without a face-off. Balderson’s netter would prove to be the deciding goal in the contest as it gave LHS an 8-6 advantage.

Earlier, Adler LaScola broke the stalemate with 3:11 to go in the first quarter to give Louisville the early lead that they would never relinquish. Kane Johns also registered an assist for the Leopards.


Kirchner & Weir Lead Wolverines

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThomas Kirchner and Aidan Weir scored two goals each to lead West Geauga. Both were instrumental during the Wolverines furious third quarter rally. Trailing 7-2, West Geauga scored four consecutive goals in a span of 4:17 to cut the deficit to 7-6.

Louisville would answer back with a pair of goals to end the third quarter and a pair of goals to begin the fourth quarter to retake a five goal advantage at 11-6. The Leopard defense also shutout the Wolverines for a span of 10:15 in the second half before Ben Mackin ended the Wolverine scoring drought with a goal at the 3:26 mark of the fourth quarter.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdBryson Byers and Devin Garee also found the back of the net earlier in the contest for West Geauga. The Wolverines end their season with 6 straight losses to finish 2-15 overall.

Louisville is now 1-1 all-time against West Geauga. The Wolverines doubled up the Leopards 10-5 in a previous regular season matchup held at Louisville Leopards Stadium on April 12, 2008.

Leopards Now Hold Winning Postseason Record

The Leopards are now 9-8 in the postseason all-time, which includes a 4-1 record in tournament games played at Louisville Leopards Stadium. Louisville is now 5-6 in the postseason since entering Division II in 2016.
