Louisville 25-25-22-25, Lake 20-17-25-16

The Louisville Lady Leopards defeated the host Lake Lady Blue Streaks in four sets Thursday in the DI Volleyball Sectional Finals. Louisville won the match 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16 to improve to 13-10 on the season.

In last year’s Sectional Final, the Leopards were stunned by the Blue Streaks 25-13, 25-18, 22-25, 23-Beatty's Sports Under Armour Summer 2013 Ad25, 12-25. Louisville faced a similar scenario in this contest as they took command of the match by winning the first two sets. The tide looked to turn in Lake’s favor after the Blue Streaks won a back-and-forth third set, but unlike last year the Lady Leopards prevailed in the fourth set to claim their 3rd DI Sectional Title in 4 years.

Leaders for Louisville included Emily Hollifield who recorded 18 kills and 1.5 blocks, Haley Shadle who provided 48 assists, Nicole Kettlewell who tallied 24 digs, and Rachel Mathie who was the team’s top server with 18 points and 5 aces.

Louisville will return to Lake High School on Tuesday to take on the top-seeded Jackson in the DI District Semifinals at 7:30 PM. The Lady Leopards fell to the Lady Polar Bears 15-25, 11-25, 9-25 back in 2011 in the same situation.
