Louisville 6, Salem 1

Sarah Jaroszyk scored two goals and added another assist to lead the Lady Leopards to a 6-1 win over the visiting Salem Quakers.  The student section dubbed “The Jungle” was also rowdy all evening long in helping propel Louisville to their first conference victory at Louisville Leopards Stadium Wednesday evening.

Louisville wasted no time in getting on the board as Jaroszyk launched a ball into the back of the net just 53 seconds into the contest.  Jaroszyk would not score again until the 12:26 mark of the second half, but the Lady Leopards would pound home four goals in between her pair of scores.

Salem answered with a goal of their own to knot the game at 1-1 after five minutes.  The Quakers played very physical in the contest that led to a pair of yellow cards & a pair of fouls within the penalty area.  Both resulted in Leopards scores off penalty kicks from Lizz Stefanik and Rachel Baughman to give Louisville a 3-1 edge.

Each of the Leopards starting Freshman scored later in a span of exactly five minutes.  First Lizzy Mont back-kicked a goal into the Beatty's Sports Grey Louisville Athletics T-Shirtnet off a beautiful cross field pass from Baughman.  Then Devin Kring one-timed a kick for the score off of a lob kick by Jaroszyk.  Sami Keefe setup Jaroszyk with a perfect lead pass down the right sideline before Jaroszyk outraced the coverage and passed it to Kring who made it 5-1.

Jaroszyk would then score the sixth and final goal for the Lady Leps on a wild give-and-go corner kick play.  Stefanik took the corner kick and booted it a few yards in front to Kring.  Kring passed it back to Stefanik who knocked it towards the goal.  Jaroszyk was there in the goal box to make sure it hit its intended target as she blasted it into the top right corner of the net.

With the win the the Lady Leps move to 4-1 on the season and more importantly 1-0 in NBC Play.  Salem, who defeated Louisville 4-3 a season ago, drops to 0-3 overall and 0-1 conference play.  The Lady Leopards ran through a tunnel of rowdy students after the game in celebration of their well-earned victory.
