Softball Earns Top Seed, Boys Capture 4th Seed in Tournaments

The Louisville Lady Leopards may have been snubbed in the state poll last week, but it turns out that they are respected within their district.  After compiling a 15-1 overall record, 12-0 record against Stark County, and a 6-0 record against the respected Federal League, Louisville managed to capture the number one overall seed for the Division I Massillon District.  A sweep of the defending state champion Perry Panthers and an Impressive win over North Canton Hoover helped propel the Lady Leps to the top spot.  Their only lapse was a fluke 7-1 loss at home to Carrollton.  Sectional games will begin on May 12 and the District Semifinals on May 19 at Massillon Community Park.  The Lady Leps will play the winner of the Canton Timken at Canton McKinley sectional semifinal at home on May 13 at 4:30 PM.  Last year, Louisville mercied GlenOak 10-0, before being bounced by Hoover 4-0.  Hoover, Lake, Perry, and Jackson follow the Leps for seeds 2-5.

The Leopards baseball squad managed to capture the fourth seed in the Canton Division II tournament.  The 10-6 Leopards got a quality win over Canton Division I second-seeded GlenOak and a sweep of Canton Division II second-seeded Alliance.  Tallmadge claimed the top seed in the Leopards’ district, while Alliance and Field received the second and third seeds.  Sectional games start on May 11, while the District Semifinals will be played May 19 at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium.  The Leopards will open the tournament by hosting a sectional final against Coventry on May 12.
