Softball Avenges Early Season Loss with Win at Jackson

The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Softball team defeated the host Jackson Polar Bears 8-1 Monday Evening at JHS. With the victory, Louisville is now 10-6 on the season.
The Leopards were led by Emily Cantley who finished the night 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs. Grace Jackson also drove in 3 runs, Savannah Miner finished with 2 hits, and Leandra Givens scored twice.
Louisville took an 8-0 advantage after three inning and never looked back. In the circle, Kirsten Wharmby pitched a complete game, gave up just 1 earned run on 5 hits, and struck out 7 for the Lady Leopards. Wharmby gave up just a single run despite Louisville having to overcome 5 errors in the field.
The Polar Bears were led by Annie Dehnke who finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Miah Wilson also scored the only run for Jackson.
The Leopards pounded out 11 hits as a team. Lexi Givens had an RBI Triple for Louisville and Katie Cozy & Kylie Zifer also had RBI at-bats.
For the Leopards, the victory snaps a 3-game losing skid against the Polar Bears and avenges a 3-1 home loss to them back on April 15. Louisville still trails the all-time series 12-28, which includes a 4-17 mark at Jackson.
