Freshman “Bolt” Past West Branch with Six 1st Half Touchdowns

FRESHMAN FOOTBALL

Louisville 39, West Branch 12

Louisville quarterback Connor Zwick ran in two touchdowns and passed for four more in the first half of the Freshman football team’s 39-12 win over the West Branch Warriors Thursday evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium.  One half was all the two NBC foes played as lightning ended the game at halftime.

As the skies got uglier, so did the difference in the score.  A Warrior fumble deep in their own territory set up the first Louisville touchdown, which was a 1 yard touchdown by Zwick.  However, West Branch answered right back to make the score 7-6 in favor of the Leps.

A little later, a pass from Zwick to Adam O’brien set up a 6 yard touchdown scamper by Zwick for his second rushing touchdown of the evening.  The score gave Louisville a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

As rain started to fall from the heavens, Zwick began to light up the sky.  He threw four touchdown passes in the second quarter: a 56-yard hook up to Walter Shrock, a 42-yard bomb to Kyle Woost, another score to O’brien, and finally a clutch 15-yard strike to Josh Swanson with just three seconds remaining in the half.  This tirade of Louisville points put the Leopards comfortably ahead 39-12 at the break.

At halftime there was lightning in the area so the rest of the game was cancelled.  The win is Louisville’s second over West Branch this season after the two team’s met previously at West Branch on September 29 with the Leps winning 28-18.  The freshman squad has now 5-3 on the season.

NEXT UP: The Freshman squad will next travel to Salem to take on the Quakers in the final game of the season on Thursday, October 20 at 5:00 PM.
