Coach McFerren “Pleasantly Surprised”

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Leopards effort impressed Louisville Head Coach Mike McFerren per his report on Facebook:

“The 2021 season got under way EARLY this morning! Coach got a 4:45 wake up call to get the boys in the van and on the road by 6:45 for Ashland’s Brookside Golf Course for a 9:00 shotgun start. None of us had played the course, we were missing one of our top 6, we had played 54 holes in the past 3 days for tryouts, we had a freshman and a junior getting their first varsity action, we had the furthest drive of any team there…my expectations were not all that high!

Samantha's Grill AdI expected the newbies to have some jitters, i expected the lack of knowledge about the course to cause some problems, and i expected the fellas to be a little worn out. I….was PLEASANTLY surprised!!! Our team low last year was 348…today, we shot a 345.

We combined for 19 penalties on the day (which…considering lack of course knowledge wasn’t a BIG surprise to me)…but found a way to keep things under control.”

Waynedale Wins Simonson Invitational

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe Waynedale Golden Bears who the Simonson Invitational with a team low of 334, just four strokes ahead of the Dalton Bulldogs who placed second with a score of 338. Waynedale was led by tournament medalist, senior Ean Miller who shot a tournament low 72. Carter Eibel (New London) also took second shooting 79 and Judah Layton (Loudonville) tied Mayle for third by also tallying 80.

“There were jitters…there were struggles, but…there was GROWTH! Last year, struggles often snowballed and rounds spiraled out of control…today, the boys BATTLED all day long…keeping big numbers off the card and following up bad holes/shots with good ones.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdI can’t wait to see what these young men do this season…several of them are just getting back from summer baseball and don’t REALLY have their ‘feel’ completely back yet…let’s keep these numbers going down boys!”
