The Louisville Leopards Boys Golf Team competed at the DI Tannenhauf Sectional Tournament Tuesday at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance. Louisville finished with a team score of 367 to take 10th out of 16 competing teams.

Freshman Jack Mayle and Zach Root both shot a team low 90 to lead the Leopards. Both finished 29th out of 77 individual golfers.

Rounding out the Louisville scoring were senior Ryan Aljancic who shot 92 and sophomore Sam Karcher who carded a 95. Freshman Cole Miller was the only other Leopard participant who finished shooting an even 100.

Freshman Kyle Smith earned tournament medalist after shooting a tournament low 73 which included a 34 on the front nine. Smith’s score propelled his Green Bulldogs to the DI Sectional Title as they shot 320 as a team.

The Jackson Polar Bears placed second with a team score of 325. The third place Lake Blue Streaks were led by individual runner-up junior Camden Horning who shot 77 for the day. Lake finished just behind Jackson with a team tally of 327. The Canfield Cardinals were the final team to qualify for districts with a team score of 337.

The top four individuals not on a district qualifying team also advanced to districts. Those individual district qualifiers included sophomore Charlie Mort (Marlington) who shot 79, senior Nathan Albrecht (Massillon) who carded 81, and both senior Caleb Eckenrode (Springfield) & junior Blake Hood (Alliance) who tallied 82 each.
